Navigating the Heart is a plan and preparation for supporting and protecting the Individual, especially through difficult moments. These moments can be affected by:
(1) the Individual’s own intrinsic motivation to feel safe and loved;
(2) the Individual’s crisis to feel safe and loved;
(3) the caregiver’s interaction with the Individual to feel safe and loved;
(4) the destination of our teaching to feel safe and loved.
Companionship anchors the heart of one’s awareness for processes of self-discovery, expanding horizons for intrinsic and experiential learning. By creating companionship, the support person adds value and purpose to the vital foundation of well-being that develops through relationship-building. The framework establishes a foundational platform for anticipating and preparing for a course of destinations (goal areas) that teach, build upon, and expand one’s Self-concept and sense of belonging.
Navigating the Heart looks at the elements of relationship-building and how the path of support between the Individual and their support person is connecting and creating quality-of-life outcomes. This bridge-building dynamic shapes the social structures of companionship and community with the Individual, giving mobility to mentoring/learning processes. From the shared exploration and discoveries to the essential developing of one’s narrative and the ongoing mapping out of a meaningful path for one’s learning environment, Navigating the Heart is a mutually beneficial invitation that values self-determined engagement for a path of learning and exploring potentials for quality of life.
Given time, trust in the mentoring relationship and learning processes generally deepen and develop emotional attunement, but even in a momentary or new situation, the principles of the framework can be applied and effectively implemented.
