lesson 6 – Reciprocation & Accountability / Common Situations

December 12, 2023 by mhawks

The more we experience various situations, the better we will be able to select effective techniques.

Supportive techniques can help prevent or reduce discord, signal increased safety and security, enable engagement, and, most importantly, convey unconditional valuing. These techniques are based on our moment-to-moment decision-making. Being in solidarity with with the Individual helps to establish trust and facilitate connections that cultivate new meaning. In the initial dimension of caregiving, this can be challenging if we are confronted with the rejection of our presence and any kind of participation with us. The strategies and techniques described in Common Situations can increase competence in Navigating the Heart, helping to resolve and move through some of these relationship-building obstacles and establish companionship with the person. Each situation, however, is unique and an infinite number of situations can arise.

In COMMON SITUATIONS we make connections between three areas:

  1. the area of difficulty
  2. the quality of life of the Individual
  3. creating dialogue (and narrative) for engaging in the journey of nine destinations

The more we experience various situations, the better we will be able to select effective techniques.

Supportive techniques can help prevent or reduce discord, signal increased safety and security, enable engagement, and, most importantly, convey unconditional valuing. These techniques are based on our moment-to-moment decision-making.

We cannot take on new meanings if we are not in solidarity with the person. In the initial dimension of caregiving, this can be challenging as we are often confronted with the rejection of our presence and/or any kind of participation with us. The strategies and techniques described in Common Situations can increase competence in Navigating the Heart, helping to resolve and move through some of these relationship-building obstacles and establish companionship with the person. Each situation, however, is unique and any number of situations can arise.

Studying Common Situations is a comprehensive part of the training course for Navigating the Heart / Crisis Intervention, and approximately 50 situations are compiled as a resource for study.  A sample is provided in the link below.
