PNW 13th Annual Early Childhood Conference April 27

April 16, 2019 by mhawks

Purdue Northwest University’s 13th Annual Early Childhood Conference will be held on Saturday, April 27,  at DSAC Grand Hall at the Westville campus.

PNW’s Center for Early Learning 13th Annual Childhood Conference is open to all students, professionals, and anyone interested in Early childhood education and development.

This year’s theme is focused on what the world needs now…

Dr. Anthony McCrovitz (executive director for Globe Star, llc and Quality of Life Institute, Inc.,) will present at 9:40 am and 2:10 pm on:

Relate-ability: How a framework of Gentle Teaching is used for creating a relatable environment for one’s learning and social-emotional growth

He will share the invitational framework of Gentle Teaching and illustrate how application of Gentle Teaching principles guide parents and professionals in the effective use of “our tools” (hands, eyes, words, presence). Learn how a framework is used to construct and shape social-emotional fabric for learning processes, and how to build mentoring relationships that cultivate relatable environments for one’s learning and growth.

WORKSHOPS! Fall SUMMIT 2018 “Strengthening the Family” Series

September 7, 2018 by mhawks

The Quality of Life Institute, in partnership with the SHARE Foundation, is presenting three, evening workshop events this Fall, at Sharing Meadows (St. Timothy Center) in LaPorte, Indiana.

The theme centers on “Strengthening the Family.”

The workshops are geared to benefit those of us who work with children, ages 3-18. This includes parents, extended family, caregivers, educators and other professionals. Our goal is to share resources with those involved with children and their families and communities, promoting healthy relationships, well-being, and quality of life.

Workshops will identify the key purpose for cultivating a child’s engagement and their involvement in the community. This nurtures their learning and helps children think well of themselves and believe in what is possible in their own future.

Participants will be given “tools” for assessing a child’s environment and for creating the invitation for engaging the child in “table dialogue.” This style of interaction creates “growing room” for listening and learning, changing our lens so we can perceive the possibilities for meaningful connections to be made.

October 18……….. Changing the Lens

November 15 …… 3 E’s (expressive language, emotions, engine)

December 20…… Creating Teachable Moments

$30 per session or $85 for all 3!

CHILDCARE will be available on the premises and provided at no additional cost.

“In human development, freedom and the genuine feel of self-determination are only concepts until they become developed and differentiated through one’s narrative story. This is a quality of life goal and outcome, produced through reciprocal relationship-building processes that incorporate a framework of Gentle Teaching, where learning and living begin with feeling safe and loved.” ~Dr. Anthony M. McCrovitz, Executive Director
